A Spirit Driven Existence

It’s been a long time since I’ve published something on this blog and for that I’m sorry. And the longer it has been, the harder it becomes to get started.

I regularly perform tarot readings for myself and record my feelings about the reading in my tarot journal. This is to help me become a more intuitive tarot reader by allowing Spirit to give me a larger frame of reference for card meanings but, beyond that, it’s also to help me with my own shadowwork and lightwork.

Shadowwork: work that we do on the unseen or hidden aspects of self.

  • Why does this make me afraid?
  • What is holding me back?
  • What is fueling my regressions?

Lightwork: work that we do on the seen or visible aspects of self.

  • How can I lead with Spirit?
  • How can I be present in this moment?
  • Is this habit for my highest good?

Today’s reading came from the Good Tarot Deck because I enjoy the perspective and compassion the deck expresses; it’s beautifully imaged by Colette Baron-Reid.

I wanted to share my reading with you today:

Past: Fortune’s Wheel

Present: 8 of Air

Future: World

Advice: 3 of Air

We’re all being asked to acknowledge and remember the instances in our lives where, “destiny meets synchronicity.” Where the signs we were being given led us to someplace magical and important… where our premonitions saved us from heartbreak… where our intuitive instincts helped us navigate out of a tough situation.

Fortune’s Wheel is in the past position because the evidence that Spirit operates for our highest good can only be fully realized by looking backwards at the evidence behind us. Remember when we went against our instincts and something backfired? Remember when we followed our instincts and we were able to harvest success?

It’s hard to have faith. As a former and reformed Atheist, faith has never been my strongest virtue. I’m an evidenced based being who thrives on predictability because the past gives us insight to the future.

As we move into the present position, the card I’m faced with is the 8 of Air, which tells me that how I am currently seeing things is holding me back from the truth. I’m clinging to my perception even though it doesn’t serve my highest good. Only through letting go that which is holding me back will I progress.

The progression is marked by the World card. By accepting things as they are, I abandon the aspect of self that’s physical and focused on physical goals and transcend into my Spiritual self that has a global an eternal perspective. I am an eternal spiritual being with the history of all of the lives I’ve lived before me. There is nothing in the physical world that will compare to the perspective gained when I remember that I am a Spiritual being who is having a temporary human experience.

Photo by Artem Saranin via Pexels

The aspect of self, Ego, that’s focused on earthly goals and driven by earthly fears holds us back. We’re afraid to die, we’re afraid to fail, we’re afraid to lose. But sometimes that’s the point, right? Sometimes that’s the path we’re meant to take. Sometimes that’s the experience we’re meant to have.

The advice card is the 3 of Air which reminds us that sometimes our highest good is met through rejection, through pain, through surviving fire and trauma. Allowing us to learn from these painful events in our lives but not allowing these painful events of our lives to become our defining identities.

It’s okay to have our hearts broken. That doesn’t define us and through it we gain the understanding of how to be better people. To not inflict the hurt on others that we experienced ourselves.

It’s okay to lose people. That doesn’t’ define us and through it we gain the understanding of how to value the time we have left in the physical sense. It also gives us the opportunity to develop a deeper spiritual awareness and learn how to live a Spirit driven experience. It allows us to  grow our relationship beyond the physical limitations of the physical body and allows our Spirit to experience profound connections with those who have transitioned into Spirit.

Our loved ones aren’t gone. They’re waiting for us to reach out and grow our ability to hold onto relationships with them that transcends the physical death of the body.

Weekly Forecast: The Art of Learning Grit

There’s this belief that if something was meant to be, all of the stars would align to guarantee it, and all obstacles would crumble away. This is, more or less, nonsense. Inevitably, some things in life will just fall in to place for you for better or worse. However, things destined to propel us forward towards our highest good may not necessarily feel very good and it’s certainly not promised to be without pain.

Today’s Weekly Tarot Forecast is for you.

Your weekly Tarot Forecast:

Past: Knight of Cups

Present: The Hierophant

Future: Strength

Advice: Four of Swords

Sometimes, you don’t recognize the person you once were. The inexperienced Knight of Cups had passionate conviction. An unshakable idealism that caused conflict internally and externally as those struggled under the weight of expectations. You knew how things ought to be. You immediately sensed when things weren’t right. The young knight’s emotions were still maturing and developing the complexities to capture the messy, beautiful creatures we are. It’s been a process of failure, forgiveness, success, and celebration but it has made you into the person you are now: the Hierophant.

The inexperienced and innocent knight has given way to authority and expertise. You’re confident now. You know what you know. It hasn’t been an easy road but it’s one that has taught you things allow you to exude the air of mastery. It’s okay to be bold in the knowledge that you’re an expert whether it be an expert in being a partner in a relationship, a master of your trade, or the mastery of a craft… you’ve stuck it out and that’s worth acknowledging.

However, it’s important to continue pursuing growth, less complacency erode the foundation upon which your pride has been built. In the future, we see the Strength card, which is both a warning and reassurance: you will be tested and you’ve got this.

I know it sometimes feels like you’ve crested the top of the mountain only to find more mountain to climb instead of the steady decline you were expecting. After so much hard work, effort, and skill we all hope to just reach a point where we can say, “I did it,” celebrate that moment, and then coast the rest of the way down. However, that’s not in the cards for every one for every thing.

This may be the few years you’re hoping to handle with grace before a well earned retirement. It may be that bittersweet moment that empty nesters feel as their young leave home for the first time. It may be that moment right after the last final exam for the last class that stands between you and your diploma. It could be that knowledge of finding the one or the moment that those fertility treatments create a baby. Regardless of what brought you here, the warning is that the battle isn’t over yet, but also that you’ve got this.

Photo by Sam Mgrdichian on Unsplash

The advice given is the Four of Swords which reminds you of the importance of inward reflection and ascension gained through meditation. You’re not going to find what you need by looking outside of yourself because the type of strength that will be required of you is one grown from within. The grit of survival cannot be imparted upon you by someone outside of you, it can only be developed over the lifetime of struggles you’ve endured. It’s time to recognize you’ve prepared yourself for this moment and seize it.

The role of meditation also serves as a secondary but essential practice: guidance. Everything may not happen for a reason. Divine timing may truly suck at times. Life’s irony can be a bitter pill to swallow. That isn’t to say there aren’t lessons to be learned and opportunities for growth in our adversity.

Ensure that you define your obstacles; that you leave them behind you as you stroll away in victory. Don’t allow your obstacles define you or the journey that lies ahead.

Understanding the Energy: Deciding the Undetermined

Sometimes the choices ahead of us can leave us feeling paralyzed in place. Unable to make a choice for fear of making the wrong choice. And we remain stuck in this moment until all of our choices are made for us by either those involved or time itself. In Sunday’s forecast, we talked about how we were facing this exact same problem and we explored the consequences of inaction. Monday, we were encouraged to evaluate choices based on whether or not they were good for us. Today, we examine the energies involved to better understand why we’re here and what we can do to take control.

Today’s Oracle reading is for you.

Your mid-week Oracle reading:

Past: Man Holding a Coin

Present: Journey

Future: All Tied Up

We live on earth which means that, as uncomfortable as this makes our spiritual beings, we have to acknowledge and accept our earthly motivations. Spirit may not run on vegetables but my physical body does. Spirit may not need to sleep in my bed but I do in order to work my 70+ hour work weeks. Spirit may not have any value for currency but my mortgage payment requires it.

In the past position, we see Man Holding a Coin, as a reminder that we all live on earth and this sometimes means that our motivation to do things may primarily serve our earthly interests. Simply put: sometimes we want material things on earth. In moderation, this is entirely reasonable, so long as we do not less these desires control us. So long as we still understand that first we are spirit and only second to that are we humans.

We see this motivation as the driving factor behind Journey in the present position. The Journey card is a card of transition, the destination not yet reached. Inherent in transition is this understanding that the outcome, whether it’s the entire outcome or only a portion of it, is unknown. How do you plan for something that remains undetermined?

This is the struggle we see binding us up as we move into future with the All Tied Up card. Unable to move forward, this is where we remain, until our binds disintegrate around us and the choices under which we struggled fade away. We’ve relinquished control over to the universe because we’ve allowed the limitations of our transition to impose restrictions upon us.

The transition will end. All transitions do. Life is cyclical like that. We must be mindful that this transition – this unknown – should not prevent you from moving forward. Eventually, you will arrive at the destination, and it’s up to you to choose that destination here. In the present. Choosing wrongly is better than not choosing. The more decisions you make in the present, the more defined your future becomes along your journey.

Monday Encouragement: Not all Good Ideas are “Good” for You

When you’re faced with choosing one future out of many alternatives, the choices can feel overwhelming. The reality is that everyone has several viable paths that would turn out swell. However, not all good ideas are good for you. This is a distinction worth keeping in mind when evaluating when path to take.

Today’s Oracle reading is for you.

Your Monday Oracle reading:

Monday Encouragement Card: Not for You

Today, we’re reminded that there are a lot of possibilities that exist in our future: we could be astronauts, doctors, dancers, or librarians. We could marry wealthy, we could marry artists, we could forgo marriage entirely and enter into a polyamorous relationship with two soulmates. We could spend our free time learning a new language, canning vegetables we grew in our garden, or climbing Everest. But should we?

The Not for You card is a reminder that just because we can envision it for ourselves doesn’t necessarily mean it’s something we should pursue. For example – if my priorities are to raise a beautiful, confident, and healthy family – I need to weigh which paths are most conducive to that. Being a roadie for my favorite band? Not an ideal environment to raise an infant.

We need to look deeper at our opportunities and really evaluate them for how they would translate to the other goals in our lives so that we don’t end up chasing two incompatible dreams. But remember: don’t spend too much time lost in thought. Opportunity knocks but if you don’t answer, it’s going to leave.

Weekly Forecast: Opportunity knocks and then Leaves if you Don’t Answer

Sometimes life presents us with too many choices and, for a moment, we get lost in the possibilities. Fantasizing about where the possibilities may lead is a healthy normal response but be wary of spending too much time sitting on the fence less you want those opportunities to slip through your hands.

Today’s Weekly Tarot Forecast is for you.

Your weekly Tarot Forecast:

Past: Ace of Swords

Present: Seven of Cups

Future: King of Coins

Advice: Two of Wands

It was a moment of absolute clarity for you. The Ace of Swords is in our past position as a reminder of the realization we had not too long ago. Suddenly, things just clicked, and we understood something that had been plaguing our worried minds for awhile.

What was that moment of clarity for you? Did you suddenly realize that your relationship was counterproductive towards your goals? Did you discover what your life’s passion was? Perhaps you realized a pattern in your life that was preventing you from moving forward. Whatever it was, that moment of clarity is the past, and set the stage for where we’re at now: Seven of Cups.

In some ways, that epiphany was the easiest part of your journey, because once you know… you know. Now comes the question: what do you do with it? How do you need to move forward with that knowledge? Do you repair the relationship? Do you pursue your life’s passion and, if so, at what cost? How viable is it to simply abandon bad behaviors especially if there’s a mental or genetic component (as is the often the case with addiction or anxiety)?

Photo by Javier Allegue Barros on Unsplash

The Seven of Cups, in the present position, talks about the choices before us. They are numerous and can be overwhelming especially as we weight the outcomes of any given path. To be clear, these are important decisions that we’re faced with making, with consequences that are vast and far reaching. The future we’re seeking, after all, is the one represented by the King of Coins.

The King of Coins is a future of security and stability. It’s a future of happiness and confidence. It’s a future that isn’t free of struggle but is free of the accompanying worry. It’s a future of a comprehensive insurance policy that assures us whatever trouble lurks ahead is within our ability to handle.

The pressure to make the right decision that yields the future of the King of Coins isn’t subtle and this opportunity isn’t one we want to squander. Yet, it is important that we act decisively, according to the Two of Wands. That relationship isn’t going to get easier to leave with the addition of children. Job opportunities can dry up just as quickly as they rain down upon us if we spend too much time considering which one we want to pursue. Having a life’s passion is a wonderful experience but determining the degree to which you want it to consume you isn’t going to be easier as you also find yourself making other commitments.

The advice here is to weigh your choices with wisdom and expediency. Then commit to the path you’ve chosen. It may not be around forever.

Retrospective: the Excitement of a Future Well Loved

By understanding how the past shaped the present which, in turn shapes the future, we become empowered to break tired cycles that no longer serve us and start pursuing elements that do. This week, we examined the inward transformation to help facilitate nudging your relationship into a partnership. Then we examined the energy that helps direct the relationship towards a happy commitment. Today, we spend a few moments in the future, taking in the fruits of our labor.

Today’s Lenormand reading is for you.

Your end-of-week retrospective reading:

Card 1: Birds

Card 2: Stork

You’ve controlled your emotions and successfully prevented dragging the relationship down with negative energy. You’ve nurtured the relationship like you would nurture a child. You invested in it. Planned for it. You diligently protected it. You’ve also given it the space it needed to expand itself into something encompassing, beautiful, and sustainable. Under your loving watch, it grew.

Now it is time to bask in the glow of love as your immature romance developed into a lifelong partnership. Congratulations. Can you feel the electricity in the air? Your heart’s speed increase?

It’s okay to be excited about a future full of love. To be excited about of a future of being well loved. Of loving well. Of reciprocity. Of companionship. In today’s Lenormand reading, we’re met with the cards Bird and Stork, which represent excitement and change.

It’s a call to remind ourselves on some days, especially Fridays, it’s okay to invite a little whimsy into our lives. It’s healthy to daydream about a future in which we’re happy and have found partners. It’s okay to remind ourselves what exactly we’re working towards.

So go ahead. Sit back. Kick your feet up. Close your eyes. And just dream.

Understanding the Energy: Understanding Love

This week is all about the kind of love Etta James sang about when she crooned, “At Last”:

At last my love has come along
My lonely days are over and life is like a song, oh yeah
At last the skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up clover the night I looked at you

On Monday, we examined what it takes to evolve a relationship into a partnership and we learned that the focusing on being someone you would want to marry is key: interesting, compassionate, kind, forgiving, encouraging, and inspiring. It isn’t enough to fall in love once, a decade ago. Relationships take investment every day.

Today we examine the energy that can help carry your relationship from “significant other” to “committed” in the definition you want for your relationship.

Today’s Oracle reading is for you.

Your mid-week Oracle reading:

Past: Man Holding a Heart

Present: The Thinking Woman

Future: First Chakra, Archangel Michael

Unsurprisingly, our love reading starts with Man Holding a Heart in the past position, because this is where our love story begins: with someone holding our hearts. Love is action. It’s a verb. Where you spend your actions, your thoughts, and your intentions is where your energy gathers momentum.

Those who struggle with trusting their partner, who spend time criticizing their partner, or who discourage their partner will grow emotions of dislike, loathing, fear, and secrets. By trusting your partner, cheering your partner’s successes, and encouraging your partner’s willingness to try despite failures, you’re growing the momentum of energy in your relationship towards feelings like happiness, support, reliance, and shared intimacy.  In other words, how you spend your energy within a relationship will create energy to pull your relationship towards that direction.

You’ve invested love, kindness, and excitement into the relationship which brings us to the Thinking Woman in the present position. There are times for action and there are times for understanding. The Thinking Woman represents the latter. She sees how wonderful her relationship is, knows it has potential to evolve into something more, and is weighing her options on how to get there. The Thinking Woman is a card of retrospection and thoughtfulness. She is drawing energy into the relationship to fundamentally ensure that she and her beloved make it to safe and tranquil waters.

It’s still a gamble. There’s no guarantee she’ll make it. Yet the promise the future holds is worth risking the choppy waters. The Thinking Woman is a card that asks you to evaluate how you are spending energy in your relationship. Are you growing momentum in the areas that will lead to commitment or are you growing momentum in the areas that will ultimately lead to heartache?

When you spend time acting and thinking about a certain outcome, you draw energy towards that outcome, making it even more likely. In this case, the Thinking Woman is spending time infusing her relationship with the kind of emotions and commitment she wants to get out of the relationship. Ultimately, this takes her to the future card as represented by the First Chakra, Archangel Michael.

The First Chakra card is symbolic of being rooted or anchored in security. It’s attachment that helps stabilize us and keeps of anchored. If we invest the right kind of energies into our relationship keeping the outcome we desire in mind, we can manifest the realities we seek. We can find our security and safety in the First Chakra.

Weekly Forecast: To Transition from Love to Commitment

In the beginning, all love begins as immature love, in which two or more people come together and figure out how to love themselves and each other within the context of a new relationship. Sometimes, love never evolves, and fizzles. These affairs of the heart are like fireworks that explode into the night sky, beautiful and intense, before falling to ashes leaving only bittersweet memories. However, some affairs of the heart become stars when they ignite in the sky.

Today’s Weekly Tarot Forecast is for you.

Your weekly Tarot Forecast:

Past: Page of Cups

Present: The Sun

Future: Four of Wands

Advice: Queen of Wands

Some relationships are just not meant to survive indefinitely. They begin and end with the Page of Cups never fully gaining momentum beyond the innocent and fresh new love phase. This is okay. Not all relationships should transform into partnerships. Some relationships are simply best in short, delicious bites like desserts. Some relationships have the energy and the dedication it takes to evolve from a fleeting tryst to a long-term partnership.

What kind of relationship do you have? What kind of relationship do you want? Are you on the road to get there or has your path diverted towards an unknown outcome? As a Tarot reader and psychic, I’m often asked for relationship advice because the desire to continue growing with the one you love is a common question a lot of people ask at some point.

Ben_Kerckx / Pixabay

The key to a successful long-term partnership is to understand that the Page of Cups isn’t sustainable. Ultimately, it’s kind of nice being with someone who knows your mom’s secret cold remedy for when you’re feeling under the weather. It’s delightful being with someone who knows how you make your coffee. It’s sublime to just exist with your lover. In a long-term partnership, the Page of Cups abandons chasing the feeling of falling in love to experiencing the existence of being in love as represented by the Sun.

At this point, a lot of relationships aren’t sure where to go from here, because the type of excitement you receive in being in a long-term relationship is different than the roller coaster ride of falling in love. Because having known someone doesn’t always give lovers the freedom to continue growing as independent spirits. Because growing as independent spirits sometimes means growing apart. Because, it is at this point, that the mundane grind of daily events, lack of money, and lack of freedom wear down a relationship at its weakest points.

So how does one transition from the enjoyment under the Sun and into the celebration of unity as expressed by the Four of Wands? Through the Queen of Wands.

The advice is to be the person you want to fall in love with every day. Be kind. Be compassionate. Inspire. Love. Be loved. Don’t take for granted and don’t be taken for granted. Don’t allow the daily grind to wear down your love for each other and don’t allow it to make you dull. Find new ways to grow independently and with each other. Prioritize your love for each other over your occasional unhappiness with the temporary circumstances you find yourselves in.

Retrospective: The Family that Dreams Build

This week has been a heavy week in the midst of an exciting and rejuvenating period. As our souls cried for more freedom to be our authentic true selves, reality got in the way, and we found ourselves weighed down by the conflicts that arose from walking the road less traveled. We also understand that our souls need this. We travel the road less traveled for ourselves so that we can create the energy that takes us to unfathomable victories.

Today’s Lenormand reading is for you.

Your end-of-week retrospective reading:

Card 1: Star

Card 2: House

Growth can be painful. We even have a phrase to describe it: growing pains. Sometimes this means shedding people, behavior, attitudes, and attachments that either no longer serve your highest good or, worse, are counterproductive for your highest good. The road less traveled, as we learned in Monday’s Encouragement message, isn’t always easy because not everyone understands why you feel compelled to take the riskier, more dangerous, less reliable route at this point in time. Not everyone is on the same development schedule.

The Star card talks about you following your own path to becoming the most authentic person to serve your highest good. As you evolve and transform into the person you were meant to be, those who love you enough to support your growth aren’t going anywhere. They will champion you. They will be excited to learn about who you are on the path to becoming. You also become an inspiration to those around you who needed the incentive, the desire, and the curiosity to follow their own bliss. Transformation is contagious.

The energy you’re utilizing will attract those who want to help you co-create the future you seek; the energy you’re utilizing will repel those who want to hurt the future you seek. This may mean that there could be unexpected changes to your friends and family. Not all of those changes may be good. However, it’s important to note that Home is what you make it. It is filled with those who bring you pleasure, those you fulfill, and the memories you choose to make together.

When you follow your dreams, you find your family.

Understanding the Energy: When you do things for YOU

You made the commitment to yourself to prioritize you. You may not have known it at that time but this is what led you to this place. You were tired of coming last in your own life. If your life were a play, you would have been secondary character who holds the umbrella. Now, you find yourself on the road less traveled, isolating people whom you’ve outgrown, and dare I say anticipating the future… How on earth did you get here? Let’s take a look at the energy that brought you here and where it’ll lead.

Your Wednesday Energy Reading:

by Victoria_Borodinova @ Pixabay

Past: Door to Personal Healing and Happiness

Present: Second Chakra, Archangel Ariel

Future: The Thinking Woman

Changing the energy that informs and guides the outcome of a situation may seem mystical in nature but it does not require donning a white beard and pointy hat. In fact, when you entered through the Door to Personal Healing and Happiness, you fundamentally set into motion a counter current of energy to help you manifest what would aid in your healing and happiness. It may have been something as simple as skipping fast food for lunch and opting for something lighter and more healthy. It may have been something as simple as realizing that you are, in fact, a true badass.

Suddenly, with that single action or thought, you opened up a new set of possible outcomes. Swapping the burger out for the salad today may inspire you to start making your own salads more often which could lead to weight loss, longevity, better moods, and better mental health that you may not have otherwise encountered if not for that single decision of, “Hey, they salad looks pretty good. I’ll try it.” Similarly, realizing that you’re pretty awesome may result in you accepting challenges that you wouldn’t have otherwise considered and this could lead to promotions, more recognition, and more self-confidence.

That single action or thought introduced a counter current with the potential to completely alter the outcome of the road you were on. This is how powerful you are. Your thoughts have power because they harness the energy all around you. That pull of energy – walking through that door to a healthier you – has led you to where you are today: on the road less traveled.  While we know the likely outcome of your current path, the obstacles you may encounter along the way, we have yet to explore the current energies manifesting around you as you traverse your new path and where those energies are likely to take you.

In today’s Oracle reading, we find ourselves in the present, represented by the Second Chakra, Archangel Ariel, known for inspiring creativity and confidence in one’s self. Taking care of yourself is an investment in you. It’s an investment in your ability to be a co-creator alongside Spirit for your best and possible highest good. It’s signaling to the universe that you recognize, if even only a fraction, your own power. This makes the Second Charka card is a powerful energy card to see in the present because the moment we recognize we’re powerful, we become unstoppable. The moment we realize that our thoughts can change the outcome of something, we start developing our thoughts to create the outcomes we want. Our power turns into the energy we need to manifest the future we desire. In this situation, the energy current you’re riding will lead to the Thinking Woman.

The Thinking Woman is a renaissance woman who faces fear with logic and intuition. Who is courageously open to the unknown. Who takes big risks to gain the big rewards we would otherwise only fantasize about. The Thinking Woman is someone who goes enough places, does enough things, and sees enough miracles to write best selling memoirs. You are sitting atop all of the energy you need to make all of your dreams come true. All you need to do is harness it.

And to think that all of it started with that decision to prioritize your wellness and happiness because that gave you the courage and curiosity to walk the road less traveled.
